St. Michael's N.S. is a mainstream co-educational school. The original school was first built in 1944. It was replaced by our new school in 1996.

The village has grown rapidly in the last decade and so has the school!

Our school is now a bustling eight classroom school with 188 children. We have an administrative principal, eight class teachers, a shared Learning Support teacher, a Resource teacher, two full-time and one partime special needs assistants and a full-time secretary.

A huge Thank you to Gillian Fitzgerald for organising the wonderful Fashion Show which was held on Friday, December 9th in the school hall. The proceeds of this show went towards the cost of buying a stage for our hall.
It was a great success and enjoyed by everyone. Gillian raised €1300. The children, past and present, were wonderful and some of our staff were wonderful too!
Ms Murphy, Ms O'Connell and Valerie were the staff members who braved the catwalk! Well done to you.
Mrs Fleming did a great job as compere. A big thank you also to the parents who are as always so supportive. Here are some photographs courtesy of Jonathan Ryan, Tipperary pictures.

Green Flag 2007 - 2008

We are very conscious of our carbon footprint in our school. Last year we were awarded the European Green Flag for our efforts. Everyday a huge effort is made by all the members of our school community to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Some of the things we do:
Compost - members of the Green Flag committee go around to each classroom after lunch and collect all our fruit waste. They bring this to our composter, we will be using the compost in our school garden in the spring.
Recycle - every class has two bins - one is for paper & plastic materials which can be recycled the other is for non recyclable waste (we try to keep this one as empty as possible)

Science Excellence Award 2009

Mrs Moore's class have worked towards achieving a Science Excellence award again this year. They held a science night in the school hall in early April and pupils and parents attended. Everyone was impressed by the work done by Mrs Moores class. We know they certainly deserve an award for excellence again this year.

Yes, they did it again !

Mrs Moore's class got the great news today that they have received the Award for Excellence in science again this year 2008-2009. They were all thrilled to hear the news. Well done to all.
Gillian's dance show was a great success. We are amazed how she manages to produce such a variety of dances every year. The costumes were so colourful - those lovely pink Spanish dresses from Lanzarote were a wow! Thank you, Gillian.
Everything went very smoothly. Mrs. Fleming was compere on both nights and did an excellent job. We would like to thank all the sponsors for our raffle. The parents and families of the children were so generous also in buying tickets.
The school is donating half the proceeds to Our Lady's Ward in Crumlin Hospital. It is such a worthy cause. We hope to present the cheque shortly.
